Dust off your seeksucker suits and floral dresses! It’s time for the Derby! Tomorrow marks the 140th running of the “Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.” While I won’t be attending the Kentucky Derby in person, I will be attending (like so many others around the country) a theme party where we will be partaking in sipping mint juleps and channeling all things southern. Here are a few of my favorite ensembles to help inspire you for Derby Day!
Have a great weekend!
Happy Monday! I hope this makes you smile! 🙂
I am always on the lookout for great discount sites. Especially when they involve luxury items! Shop Hers is one of the better shopping sites that I have found in quite a long time so I figured I would share the wealth (pun intended).
Shop Hers is basically a luxury item resale boutique. The authenticity is guaranteed and you can buy and sell items. They have an amazing selection and searching through items is very easy. You can even go through a small questionnaire to find your “Style Soulmate.” In other words, someone who is your size and has similar taste. And did I mention that sometimes they even have sales and discount codes?
If you are looking for a couture piece, check out http://www.shop-hers.com. Below is just a small preview of what is available on the site today! 🙂
As I am moving into a new apartment this weekend, I am excited to completely re-decorate a new space all of my own! The first place that I am going to begin is my bedroom. My style is a clean, yet lush style that truly encompasses the concept of transitional. I like geometric pieces juxtaposed with soft textures. Here are a few inspiration photos on my lust list that are helping to bring life into my vision! Can you tell that I love upholstered headboards?!
Although I will probably not incorporate this much color into my bedroom, I do love the turquoise color and the idea of striped wallpaper on the ceiling.
The off white walls paired with the geometric rug and faux fur accents are what caught my eye here.
Gorgeous monochromatic colors that are soft and inviting.
Gray is one of my favorite colors and this picture encapsulates a beautiful example of the use of monochromatic gray.
The plush faux fur accents are contrasted by the mirrored greek key console table.
The use of pattern in this design is amazing.
After a beautiful weekend of warmer weather and sunshine in NYC, it looks as though we are bracing for yet another snowstorm in the Big Apple. Walking around this weekend and seeing everyone so desperate for spring has really gotten me dreaming of a new season and wishing the current season would pack it’s bags! Here is a little inspiration to get your week going!
Ombré is a French word meaning shaded, but has become ubiquitous in our culture for that faded look. Ombré has become super popular over the past few years in everything from baked goods to interior design. My first foray into ombré was three years ago when my super trendy roommate decided to “ombré” her hair, now that look is seen on almost every fashionable celebrity. So, what are your thoughts? Love it or leave it?
Traditional style furniture can, at times, seem old, heavy and a bit outdated. However, traditional style furniture pieces typically have great lines and can easily be spruced up to exude a more transitional appearance. A coat of paint or a change of fabric can completely change the style of the piece. How about even adding modern style nailheads or adding metallic leaf? Check out of some these uber cool traditional turned trendy pieces..
Happy Friday! Today, House Beautiful did a feature on white kitchen cabinets to which I was completely drawn. White kitchens always seem so fresh, clean and crisp to me and would be my first choice should I have the opportunity to choose for myself. Like a little black dress, white cabinets are appropriate almost anywhere, whether your kitchen is sleek and modern or warm and traditional. However, anyone who has ever tried to choose a shade of white, knows that not all white is the same! There are a plethora of choices!
For a contemporary look, use a minimalist profile on the cabinets and use a similar style sleek hardware to complete the look.
A super modern look will use high gloss cabinetry as the focal point of the kitchen.
For a more traditional look, use an off-white glazed or distressed technique to create a more rustic appearance.
The glazing and relief to the cabinets will give them a worn patina look that adds a richness to your design.
You can also break up an all white kitchen by using darker floors, countertops and back splash or even some bright color if you dare!

Happy Friday! I hope you have a happy, safe and warm weekend!
